About 300,000 men each year are diagnosed with erectile dysfunction in the US alone. A third of these men do not respond to the conventional treatment with drugs such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. A smaller percentage cannot be prescribed with drugs due to pre-existing medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine say preliminary results of a small study show promise in improving erectile dysfunction in men who had shown minimal reaction to Viagra. The study results are published in the March issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
